Case studies
These case studies are intended to educate about human predators or dark personalities (subsuming malignant narcissists, covert narcissists, psychopaths, coercive controllers) using real life examples.
Human predators are able to convincingly portray themselves as saviours, supporters, healers, flag wavers for the vulnerable, victims of abusers, when they are, in reality, exceptionally dangerous, manipulative, cunning and exploitative.
It is almost impossible to believe the danger of dark personalities in light of the powerful facades they project of being ‘good people’ yet they make up at least 10% of the population, upward of 15% in positions which offer power or control. We need to accept alot of people who might say and do some good things are dangerous and we also need to know the red flags for human predators given there are so many of them.

About the case studies
These case studies try to assist the general population to understand just how extreme the juxtaposition is between the image dark personalities portray and who they really are.
The Achilles heel of those who become victims or supporters of dark personalities is often their big heart and assumption that all people are like them - well intentioned. They immediately feel respect and compassion for others who profess to be victims or advocates or are engaged by people who appear to have gravitas. Human predators know this and feed off it. They are often convincing too because of their lack of fear. They are able to brazenly lie and deceive.
Even people who have previously been targeted by malignant narcissists, covert narcissists, psychopaths, coercive controllers are often deceived. They may be more likely to be deceived because they are looking for a ‘hero’ who will speak on their behalf.
This section contains case studies of dark personalities the Kalmor Institute have:
worked on with the fraud squad,
dealt with in organisations and communities, or
been exposed to in the general population.
In most cases names have been changed and it is impossible to identify the organisation which the dark personality might have been engaged with.
Several case studies though, based on misrepresentative attacks on the Kalmor Institute or Dr Mitchell as a result of dark personality ‘pathological anger’ at being exposed, contain names because it has been necessary to correct the false claims and be protective.
Dark personalities HATE exposure. To them, it is like kryptonite is to Superman, the one vulnerability of an otherwise very powerful being. Dark personalities set out to destroy those who expose them. That is the job of Dr Mitchell as a profiler and Kalmor as an advisory organisation.
All of these case studies reflect dark personality behavioural patterns based on Dr Mitchell’s Persistent Predatory Personality (PPP) model. To see this model click here.
The Persistent Predatory Personality model is potentially the most comprehensive, nuanced representation of human predators or dark personalities ever developed.
The PPP is based on the first review ever conducted of ALL the fields of study researching people who actively violate social norms and harm and disadvantage others by conscious choice.
This includes psychopaths, narcissists, Machiavellians, dark triad, dark tetrad, sadists, cults, child sex abuse in religion, toxic leadership in organisations and politics, coercive control in intimate partner violence, human trafficking, child prostitution and terrorism, black swan events in medicine and others.
Dr Mitchell’s research also includes the first research with experts working with dark personalities outside jail. In addition, the research includes those who work with those inside jail, in a forensic context, such as the FBI profiler who has caught the highest number of serial killers.
Dr Mitchell’s PPP model is based on over 1000 cumulative years of continuous experience of experts working with dark personalities and their victims.
Of crucial importance in the research was the voice of those with lived experience.
How can I tell who is the dark personality and who is the real victim where 2 people seem to be accusing each other of the same things?
There are 4 factors crucial to identifying who is the real dark personality (the liar, the deceiver) and who is the victim:
It is important to have a very broad, deep knowledge of the attributes, tactics and red flags of the human predator, the PATTERNS OF BEHAVIOURS. Personal experience with one or two dark personalities is sometimes not enough.
You must do substantial research on both parties.
It is important to focus on EVIDENCE. Dark personalities gather OPINIONS of those who can be bribed or are vulnerable or are themselves DARK PERSONALITIES. Evidence is crucial.
You must be willing to accept that which you may not want to accept. It is easy to be swept into the powerfully emotive language and compelling words of a predator. To give support to a dark personality, even if they seem compelling is supporting an abuser.
“Sometimes it doesn’t take 2 to tango! It is just a dangerous person doing all they can to destroy someone whose life they covet or who they want to punish.”
Profiling higher functioning predators…..
The work of the Kalmor Institute exposes dark personality/predatory psychiatrists, lawyers, psychologists, academics, CEO’s, entrepreneurs, teachers, religious figures, advocates, charity workers, ‘masquerading victims’ more powerfully than ever before.
Dark personalities HATE exposure.
Exposure to human predators is like kryptonite is to Superman - the one vulnerability of an otherwise all-powerful being.
Dr Mitchell from time to time attracts ungrounded push-back, attempts to undermine, efforts to discredit because of her ability to profile higher functioning dark personalities.
It is important to look at the EVIDENCE, in particular patterns of behaviour evident in human predators or dark personalities.
