Meg Collins-Hughes

Meg Collins-Hughes is deeply skilled and experienced in planning and fostering the growth of capability within organisations, supporting business strategy through identifying capability gaps and needs and then designing initiatives to fill these gaps, designing and facilitating learning and development programs for people at all levels, monitoring career development, and individual coaching and mentoring. She has thirty five years of experience in teaching, facilitation, coaching and mentoring.

In Meg's most recent position, Development and Training Manager (Australasia) with Pilkington, Meg's key roles included:

  • identification of capabilities required across the business in order for the organisation to accomplish its business strategy, and development of a full suite of developmental initiatives and programs accordingly;
  • identification of capability gaps and competency requirements of key staff, and designing and facilitating comprehensive development programs to meet these needs;
  • developing and facilitating a range of leadership development programs for staff both in Australasia and overseas;
  • designing cutting edge learning tools and techniques which challenged traditional ways of thinking and behaving; and
  • coaching and mentoring of key leaders in the business.
  • Meg has also held the role of National Training and Development Manager at Cadbury Schweppes. In this role Meg was required to drive the identification and development of the capability required to achieve the accomplishment of the business strategy, develop and facilitate leadership and management programs, assist managers with the design and facilitation of individual development programs for their people.

    At Cadbury Schweppes Meg also participated on a special project team that drove the design and development of a significant business operation in Beijing, China. Meg's role in the project was to establish the HR and Training and Development functions, as well as support other senior team members, such as engineers, with procedures for new machinery, OH & S training, etc. Meg's special areas of interest include: recruitment and behavioural event interviewing; succession and career planning (with a special interest in supporting these processes with women); balanced scorecard measures for HR functions; coaching and mentoring and capability needs assessment and planning. A personal interest for Meg has been coaching and mentoring women graduates in their career development.

    Meg originally trained as a teacher. She has two children in their twenties and is the step mother to a teenager.
