David Mawdsley

David specialises in facilitating strategic planning, Board and executive team performance improvement and mentoring. He has over 20 years consulting experience in a wide range of clients and industry sectors in Australia, UK, South Africa, USA and Asia.

His consulting career has been in large and boutique firms - PA Consulting, Clark Hummerston, The Empower Group (now Right Consulting) and Arthur Andersen.

During his consulting career he has been extensively involved in assisting clients with culture change, leadership development, capability improvement, performance management and executive mentoring. This experience includes design, management and operation of substantial projects for clients such as Smorgon Steel, ANZ, Southcorp, City West Water, Sensis and Toyota Design.

David has conducted a number of significant leadership development programs for clients including Lend Lease, GlaxoSmithKline, Sydney Water, Great Southern Energy and Smorgon. This has involved design and implementation of leadership models and 360o processes designed to bring about behaviour change and improved leadership performance. Measurable improvements have been achieved based on repeated applications of 360o processes.

Prior to consulting David was a manager in the manufacturing sector. He worked for over five years in a range of leadership, production management and technical positions, including managing a department employing some 250 people working over three shifts. In this general management role David was responsible for production, technical, budgetary, HR and engineering functions. During this time he undertook a leadership role in two key organisation change processes, productivity improvement through organisation development and, at the other end of the spectrum, plant closure.

This breadth of consulting, leadership and management experience gives David the basis for understanding issues that confront clients. This, in turn, leads to pragmatic and actionable advice and facilitation.

David has a Bachelor of Science and Education from Melbourne and has held a number of tertiary educational roles early in his career.
